Hi, my name is iwani.

I am an actress, writer and UI/UX Designer. I grew up in several countries across East and Southern Africa before I attending university in Singapore. My peripatetic upbringing inspired my decision to become a hyper-polyglot — someone who speaks eleven or more languages. Four years after that decision I am more than halfway, learning six languages including French, Korean, Italian and Czech.

As a United World College graduate, I try my best to embody the spirit of multiculturalism and innovation. In 2010, I co-founded an organisation called Mustard Seed Africa (MSA) that centres on economic empowerment for women at the grassroots level in Zimbabwe and Swaziland. Focusing mostly on handcrafts, we pair designers with artisans, making high-end products that are sold internationally, as well as in our flagship store in Zimbabwe. To date, MSA has worked with over 2 000 women, boosting their income, creating business strategies and providing free healthcare services such as eyeglasses and breast cancer education.

I was once given the advice ‘be the person you needed when you were younger,’ that truly gave me a sense of purpose. I am now determined to complete a Master’s Degree in Acting and pursue a career, as I feel that representation is the most important step to overcoming prejudice and uplifting young women. However, I also understand the need for a balanced education. During my time at Yale-NUS, I studied coding and UI/UX Design, leading to work opportunities in a local startup and with diverse clients. I am currently the co-founder and UI/UX Designer for Panalyt, a people analytics startup.

I have a keen spirit for learning, and have used my spare time to teach myself skills ranging from playing the guitar to videography. My youtube channel and website have collectively surpassed 200k views, and I have won video awards from the Ian Somerhalder Foundation and the United Nations Environment Programme for my shown passion for women and sustainability.

I am left-handed, an avid tea drinker, and an aspiring plant mama. I'm also rather funny. Especially if I say so myself.

let's work together!
